This Friday marks a significant milestone, my son's 21st birthday. As I reflect on the past two decades, I can’t help but think about the journey that led me to where I am today. His arrival, along with my daughter's, was not just a moment of immense joy but also a testament to the power of nutrition, resilience, and taking control of my own health.
A Desperate Search for Answers
Over 20 years ago, my life was consumed by the frustration and heartbreak of infertility. I had spent 18 months on fertility medication that left me feeling exhausted, emotionally drained, and increasingly hopeless. A diagnosis of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) only added to my despair. I felt like my body was working against me, and despite following conventional medical advice, I wasn’t getting any closer to becoming a mother.
Then, something changed. I reached a breaking point and knew I had to look beyond the standard medical approach. That’s when I made an appointment with a Nutritional Therapist - a decision that would completely transform my life.
The Turning Point: Nutrition Therapy as Medicine
From the very first consultation, I felt a sense of relief. For the first time, someone truly listened to me, not just as a list of symptoms but as a whole person. My therapist helped me understand that my diet, lifestyle, and stress levels were all playing a role in my hormonal health.
Together, we developed a plan tailored to my needs. I focused on:
Balancing blood sugar levels through increasing protein and fats and reducing processed carbohydrates. Avocados and olive oil became my new favourite foods!
Incorporating the right nutrients to support my hormones and overall well-being, increasing oily fish for omega 3 and those all important green veggies!
Managing stress levels with mindful practices and exercise - I started my yoga practice which wasn't easy for someone with limited flexibility, used to sitting down at a computer all day.
Understanding my body’s signals rather than trying to override them with medication alone.
It wasn’t an overnight fix, but within months, my energy returned, my cycles regulated, and, most importantly, I conceived my son naturally. Two years later, my daughter arrive, again, without fertility treatment. I had taken back control of my health, and I knew I had to share this knowledge with others.

From Client to Practitioner: A New Path
My experience was life-changing. The care and knowledge I received not only restored my health but also ignited a passion for nutrition and holistic well-being. I left my high-pressure career and enrolled at the Institute for Optimum Nutrition in Richmond, Surrey, one of the leading institutions for Nutritional Therapy. It was a bold move, but I knew in my heart that this was what I was meant to do.
After qualifying, I set up Venus Nutrition, a practice dedicated to supporting women facing the same struggles I once did. Over the years, my work has expanded to help women navigate not just fertility and hormonal imbalances but also digestive health, metabolic conditions like pre-diabetes, weight management, and menopause.

Helping Women Take Ownership of Their Health
Today, my team and I at Venus Nutrition work with women who are tired of feeling unheard, who have tried every diet, every supplement, and every medical intervention without success. We take a personalised approach to nutrition and well-being, helping our clients:
Regain energy and vitality.
Balance their hormones naturally.
Overcome digestive discomfort and gut issues.
Lose weight in a sustainable, healthy way.
Build confidence in their food choices.
Alongside my private practice, I’m also a guest lecturer at ION and a business mentor for other nutrition professionals, helping them build impactful careers in this field.
A Celebration of Life, Health, and Possibility
As my son turns 21, I am filled with gratitude for the journey that brought me here, for the challenges that led me to a new path, and for the work I now do in helping others reclaim their health. If there’s one thing my story has taught me, it’s that our bodies are capable of incredible transformation when given the right support.
If you’re feeling stuck, unheard, or unsure where to turn with your health, know that there is always another way. At Venus Nutrition, we are here to help you take back control and feel your best, just as I did all those years ago.
